More than you'd think, which is exactly why I'm here!
Getting legally married in Australia is governed by the Marriage Act 1961, and there are a few things that need to be in place before we can make it official:
You're not currently married to someone else
You're not marrying a parent, grandparent, child, grandchild or sibling (cousins are fine, just so you know)
You're both at least 18 years old
You both understand what marriage means and are freely consenting
Certain words are said during the ceremony
You've given written notice of your intention to marry within the required timeframe
Don't worry - I'll walk you through every single one of these. That's literally what I'm here for.

Before the ceremony:
Notice of Intended Marriage – this needs to be lodged with a celebrant at least one month before your big day. We can fill it in together when we meet, or you can complete it yourself and send it over. I'll just need to see your ID at this point too.
Declaration of No Legal Impediment to Marriage – we sign this one as close to the wedding as possible, so most couples sign it on the day itself.
At the ceremony:
Two Official Certificates of Marriage get signed at the ceremony. I send one to Births, Deaths & Marriages, and keep the other for my records.
Certificate of Marriage – as a keepsake - take photos with it, frame it, put it somewhere special, whatever feels right! Just know this isn't your official certificate. That one gets created once I've registered your marriage. I'll send you a link afterwards where you can order it (around $65), which is what you'll need if you're changing your name.
All documents need to be signed by two witnesses at the ceremony, both over the age of 18.

Not at all. Most couples don't and that's where I come in. I'll guide you through the whole process and help shape something that feels right for you.
-
Absolutely. It can be as traditional, modern, relaxed, or creative as you like. We'll build it around you.
-
Yes, always. Whether it's something meaningful, symbolic, or just very you we can include it in a way that feels natural.

Siii !

Most ceremonies run for around 20–30 minutes, long enough to feel meaningful, short enough to keep everyone engaged, but if you want something longer we can definitely work towards that together.

Yes, I'm based in Sydney and happy to travel across NSW (and beyond, depending on the plans). Depending on the location, I will charge a reasonable travel fee to account for petrol and my time.
-
As soon as you have a date. Popular dates can book out well in advance, especially during peak wedding season.
-
Easy - just book a chat. We'll talk through your plans, get to know each other, and see if it feels like the right fit.
